My Ecological Footprint
My Footprint Share By Biome
Reflection:
- The pie chart above is a display of my footprint share by biome. I was presented with this chart at the conclusion of an online quiz. It displays which areas of Earth's resources i use up the most. I was surprised to find that my pastureland footprint is such a high percentage as i thought my cropland footprint would far surpass it. I learned that all the paper i use makes up a large percent of my footprint as well as shown in the blue forestland portion. Also, i am shocked to see that i have much at all in the marine fisheries biome because i assumed it meant only fish, which i hardly ever eat.
My Footprint In Global Acres By Consumption Category
Reflection:
- The bar graph above is a depiction of my ecological footprint in global acres by consumption category. Like the pie chart, i also obtained this from the same online quiz. Basically, it shows how my footprint compares to the country average. I expected there to be a much bigger difference between my yellow block and the average blue one because i believe i am more environmentally friendly than most Americans. I learned that my food footprint is actually higher than the country average, which just makes me feel fat. Overall, no quiz can tell me i am ecologically or environmentally unfriendly, but can only show me which areas i need to improve in.
How many Earths We Would Need If Everyone Lived My Lifestyle
Reflection:
- The disturbing photo above is meant to display how many Earths we would need if everyone lived my lifestyle. Of course, it is silly because there is now and will only ever be one earth. However, it does state that i am not as easy on the environment as i thought i was. If this only included America, i would be considered an ecological saint, but there are many places in the world that live more modestly and eco friendly than the U.S.. So, I should find a way to live with a smaller ecological footprint so that the Earth will not struggle to sustain us for many generations to come.
